What you can expect from us

- Carefully planned progressive practice sessions with specific goals in mind.

- Seat selections for racing to be determined by coach after assessing race/festival goals and team abilities.

What we expect from you
- To be on time, warmed up and ready for practice.
- To show respect to coaching staff by remaining quiet in the boat while they are talking.
- To not offer suggestions or help for other team members unless specifically asked by a coach.
- To be aware of safety regulations and procedures
- To make coaches and captains aware of any injuries or health issues that would affect paddling style or have impact on safety issues.
- To work hard during practices

1. The Bar Scene
- Speaking: Can talk in full sentences, tell jokes, cheer, even sing.
- Thinking: Bring another round of tequila shots!
- Stroke: No way! I get to paddle something?
- Speaking: Joking, flattery, flirty 3 - 4 words at a time, laugh at jokes.
- Thinking: More focus is required to maintain timing and technique.
- Stroke: Getting familiar.
- Speaking: Few words .. limited to expressions of delight.
- Thinking: Damn, this is work! Am I really this out of shape?
- Stroke: Finding the groove
- Speaking: Monosyllabic grunts
- Thinking: Can't talk - paddling! Thinking is clear and focused.
- Stroke: Finding 'the zone.' Strong, smooth
- Speaking: Grunting can be a challenge. Gasping for Air
- Thinking: Approaching the far side of 'the zone.' Focus is on one stroke at a time
- Stroke: There is only you, the paddle and the feeling of oneness with the universe
